The Challenge

Three Typical Situations of Removal and Recycling of used Phone Equipment – And How We Can Help.

Large Used Phone Systems

These can take up precious room in communications rooms, having been left on site following a major upgrade by the telecommunications equipment supplier. However, being firmly “tied down” and surrounded by “live” equipment, removal of used phone equipment is a skilled job. We are thoroughly experienced in removing large and bulky used phone equipment from sensitive “business critical” areas, having worked in the machine rooms of major national utilities where mistaken disconnection of equipment is simply not an option.

“Bomb Disposal” Meets “Waste Disposal”

Each cable has to be carefully traced before removal, the layout of the room is often undocumented and unlabeled, and power supplies can be shared between equipment. Typically, half a tonne of used phone system cabinet then needs to be inched past a live server rack, around another live PABX and off the raised floor of the “comms room” See “challenges on site”. No two sites are the same – we love this work!

Recovered and Stored

“Welcome to “Telecomms Attic”! – We are constantly amazed at how quickly organisations accumulate used telecom equipment. We are specialists in “house clearance” of used phone equipment, as well as the typical paraphernalia that gets left in server rooms. We are “reuse fanatics”, and love the buzz of finding new uses for old stuff.

Multiple Sites

Working with a number of multi-site organisations has taught us the “challenges” of recovery of used phone equipment from national branch networks. We know the likely problems in inter-departmental miscommunication and the threat of wasted (and costly) journeys. We can work to tight time deadlines, too!  Typically, a communications manager can simply give us raw data, and be thoroughly confident that we can carry out a complete multi-site recovery “campaign” with neither fuss nor disruption.
