Case Studies
Smokestacks Up North
Over six tonnes of used phone equipment was removed from former ICI-owned petrochemical sites in the North West of England.
We have never encountered such strict safety regimes. There was even a procedure for handling those harmful substances called "tea" and "coffee". We are not joking! The project was completed on time and within budget.
South Coast Blues
Often it's not the actual removal of the equipment that poses the challenges, more so the access and peripheral issues.
From the downtown Brighton offices of a major insurance group, we removed two tonnes of ancient used phone system. It sounds straightforward, apart from the total lack of parking space. We managed to manoeuvre a 40 foot long trailer into a ten-place staff car park and move equipment to it via a 500-metre "magical mystery tour" including five tight doorways and a 200-metre uphill tunnel.
Fun in Downtown Manchester
This was the ultimate. The site survey showed the exit route to be tight but passable with care. However, after our visit, the staff moved a huge nest of desks close against one of our removal zones. They refused to move them. Surmountable, but a deadline loomed.
The used phone system would only fit in the lift with removal of some handrails. The marble reception floor needed to be protected from 250 kilos of equipment rolling across it. And there was absolutely no parking outside in a narrow road outside in the "legal practice" district of Manchester.
(Apart from that, it was perfectly straightforward.)
